This is an educational project between two classes in two schools, Norðlingaskóli in Reykjavík, Iceland andSmørås skole in Bergen, Norway. The duration of the project is two school years, from September 2009 – spring 2011 but the travelling part, which is the biggest part of the project, will take place in November 2010 for one week and May 2011 for one week. Students are now in sixth grade, eleven years old, and will be in seventh grade when this project finishes. During the course of the project, the two participating parties will communicate through the internet, by sending school projects and to exchange schoolwork on our website. Students will make presentations of themselves, their families and their countries during the period. The students will learn about global warming and the importance of meteoric water in global context. Moreover, looking into how this will affect our health. Furthermore, geological and geographical differences in Iceland and Norway will be studied. Students will explore the ancient language that unite the countries and compare and study each other modern languages. The highlights of the project will be the students travelling between the cities, Reykjavík and Bergen. When students visit each other the accommodation will be in the students homes. In one week the students will participate in the family life and experience the daily habits of the host. Classroom teaching and outdoor learning will be an everyday event during the stay and in direct connection with the learning plan of the project as well as groupworks and presentations. |
